We made camp fires using lots of gooey yummy stuff!

Learning about being on fire for Christ.

Our favorite part, WATER BALLOON TOSS!

Our July 18 ride started at the church where we road to Geneva on the Lake. We stopped at Capo's Pizza in Geneva for lunch. Everyone had a great time chatting with old and new friends then headed back on our own. Some people stuck around to enjoy the area's sites.

Vacation Bible School Day 5

It's hard to believe that SonRock Kids Camp is already over. 5 incredible days have come and gone. We hope it was a great time for kids to make friends, make some fun things, but most importantly learn about Christ so they can make a decision to receive Jesus into their lives. Thank you to all the parents for bringing the kids every day and to all the incredible volunteers and staff who did a super job running this VBS that ended with well over 800 kids our last two days.

Please check out all of the exciting children's, youth and adult ministries and events that happen all year long!

DAILY TRUTH: I CAN LIVE FOR JESUS

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE: FOR WE ARE GOD'S WORKMANSHIP CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS TO DO GOOD WORKS WHICH GOD PREPARED IN ADVANCE FOR US TO DO. EPHESIANS 2:10 Custom made T-shirts were made yesterday.
Yes, more ways to use noodles!

Dr. Loo is now in white because she found out she is forgiven and now washed white as snow through Jesus death on the cross and Resurrection. Judd was really proud of her.
Camp fires around a tent even inside at SonRock Kids Camp.

Vacation Bible School Day 4

A little rain, a little sunshine and a fourth day of a whole lot of fun and learning for the kids (and volunteers!)

DAILY TRUTH: I AM FORGIVEN BY JESUS

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE: YOU ARE FORGIVING AND GOOD O LORD, ABOUNDING IN LOVE TO ALL WHO CALL TO YOU. PSALM 86:5

The registration and check-in tables that are used every day.
Oh the things you can do with noodles and beach balls. People without the noodles are the goals and the noodle people are trying to score goals. They're not just for pools any more!
What a group of artists we have here!
Hmmm...no real heading needed here. I think they're having good time!
Just a little sprinkling now...so one of the groups that meet for part of their morning outside ducked under this tent for a while.

Vacation Bible School Day 3

Vacation Bible School day three is one of those incredible days through the week. It started again with energetic worship, humorous, but thoughtful drama and large group teaching.

Today is the day that the kids clearly learn about how much Jesus loves us all. In same great dramatic teaching, we all learned that receiving Jesus as our savior is as easy as ABC backwards:
C - Confess that Jesus is Lord
B - Believe that Jesus died on the cross for us
A - Admit that we make mistakes (sin)

DAILY TRUTH: WE ARE SAVED BY JESUS

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE: IF YOU CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH, "JESUS IS LORD," AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU WILL BE SAVED. ROMANS 10:9 We all love cookies...but these preschoolers really are enjoying their snack break today!
Ministry at VBS include all ages. These kids are in childcare so their parents can help teach and assist with the older kids.
Can you imagine 700 kids broken into small groups like this all over PHBC? We are so blessed that so many outstanding adult and youth volunteers invest time to really care for and teach these kids key biblical truths (and help make it really fun!),
To keep the large group times from getting too big, you'll see groups like this in several places before and after they break into small groups.
Three days down and two to go!

Vacation Bible School: Day 2

Day number two meant even more kids since new kids sign up every day as the week continues. The weather was incredible as rain held off and the temps were in the 70's.

DAILY TRUTH #2 - I AM HELPED AND PROTECTED BY JESUS

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE #2 - I AM THE LORD, YOUR GOD, WHO TAKES HOLD OF YOUR RIGHT HAND AND SAYS TO YOU, DO NOT FEAR; I WILL HELP YOU. ISAIAH 41:13

We started the morning with four great, uptempo worship songs with cool actions. The drama was really funny and set the stage for the rest of the morning's teaching on God being our helper and protector. Remember this scene that included worms!
Here's Pastor Dan and his wife, Elena, teaming up for another drama during the teaching time. He's a camp counselor who has been reading his "camp manual" (Bible) and she's a highly distinguished counselor. They have very different opinions on what being a camp counselor means. Fortunately Dan trusts in his "camp manual" more than Elena's counseling.
The leader of the camp...Pam
Yeah...we love camp Sonrock!

Vacation Bible School: Day 1

Welcome to Sonrock Kids Camp! It's time for an incredible chance for kids to have fun and learn a lot about who Jesus is, how we should live our lives and what it means to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

DAILY TRUTH #1 - I AM LOVED AND ACCEPTED BY JESUS

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE #1 - HOW GREAT IS THE LOVE THE FATHER HAS LAVISHED ON US, THAT WE SHOULD BE CALLED CHILDREN OF GOD! 1 JOHN 3:1 The morning starts with worship, drama and some teaching. This scene happens several times throughout the morning as the kids are divided by age and move throughout the campus for crafts, drama, worship, teaching, small group study, recreation and of course snacks!
Just a lot of fun on the playground! One of the small groups. What a group!

Young Adults - Mohican Adventure

On Saturday, july 18th, 16 young adults spent the day at Mohican State Park. The day included a 7-mile canoe trip on the Mohican River, a visit to the park's fire tower and a picnic dinner at one of the scenic overlooks within the park.

The day began at PHBC around 8:30am where it was raining, cold and not too promising for a fun day in nature. As we headed south though, the clouds broke, the temperatures went up and the day turned out to be an ideal day to spend in God's creation!

Here's our picnic lunch. We really like to eat! We really love food!!!

Sports Camp Movie Night

On Wednesday night the men's ministry sponsored our first movie night of the summer, featuring "Facing The Giants". This was our first chance to reconnect with many of the great people who came to sports camp. It was really fantastic night of fun, games, a movie and of course food.

The evening started out with refreshments and Corn Hole games outside.

Then it was off to the Family Life Center (gym) to watch the movie
An extra bonus to the evening was a drawing for McDonald's gift certificates and tickets to the rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Then it was back outside for lots of watermelons and some fun with water balloons.

Jonathan Creek Youth Camp Day 1

Today was a full day of fun here at Jonathan Creek! :-D

The morning started off with breakfast, morning celebration and small group Bible studies.

One of the biggest attractions at Jonathan Creek are the BLOBS that throw people into the air.

As a group, we played two intense games of volleyball!

The students had free time to get to know each other and also participated in their first POIS (point of interests) today.

In the evening after dinner, we all worship together!
