2013 Men of PHBC Retreat

2013 Men of PHBC retreat was at Skyview Ranch on September 27, 28, 29. This year’s speaker was Pastor Dave Buncher and he talked to us about how we all FAIL. There were around 70 men at the retreat and we all had a good time with various activities from worship to shooting guns and yes, some even went swimming in the new pool in 56 degree water. Some did the same things they always do and some, AKA Cody (young man in a wheel chair), was helped up the hill to shoot a pistol for the first time, which made his year. But most of all we got down and dirty with the scriptures and with God and learned how to overcome failure. 

Date Night

On Friday, August 21, the men's ministry hosted our first ever date night. And what a great night it was! Over 100 people showed up for a fun night out at PHBC.

These guys didn't just throw burgers on the grill, no they went all out with the food. Great salads, a choice of tasty pork or chicken breast, green beans with the most incredible, but subtle taste and of course the dessert was top-notch as well!

Then we all watched a wonderful movie, Fireproof. And they didn't just use the old parlor sound-system. No, these guys brought in a full Dolby 5.1 surround sound system.

Fireproof is one of those incredibly well-done movies that every couple, married or not, needs to see, then take some time to talk through the "real-life" that is brought up in the movie.

Sports Camp Movie Night

On Wednesday night the men's ministry sponsored our first movie night of the summer, featuring "Facing The Giants". This was our first chance to reconnect with many of the great people who came to sports camp. It was really fantastic night of fun, games, a movie and of course food.

The evening started out with refreshments and Corn Hole games outside.

Then it was off to the Family Life Center (gym) to watch the movie

An extra bonus to the evening was a drawing for McDonald's gift certificates and tickets to the rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Then it was back outside for lots of watermelons and some fun with water balloons.

Men's Breakfast

The men's ministry rallied together for breakfast, worship, inspiration and service on Saturday, June 20th. It was a fantastic morning to get the guys together to take another step in building this vital ministry.

Gary got the guys pumped about men's ministry and the upcoming men's retreat.
The cooks gave the guys motivation!

Doug led the men in God-focused worship.

Pastor Dan fired up the guys for serving Christ as he shared Christ's desire for them in the church.

To wrap up the morning, the men pitched in to get the tents and other grounds work done to get the last details ready for sports camp.
