YAM-Mystery Night Party

On crisp autumn evening, members of the Young Adult Ministry gathered together for a night of mystery. Each member of the group was assigned a character and role to play. As the evening progressed several courses of dinner were served along with more information about the characters being played. By night's end the mystery was solved and everyone who participated got to know one another a little better. The activities of the evening were then used in discussion the next day in ABF as we learned about overcoming superficial relationships.

Mom to Mom

Our Mom to Mom group met last Friday, October 23, in the parlor. Many moms came and enjoyed this much needed refreshing time together! This month's discussion topic was How Your Child Learns Through Games. It was a great time of fellowship and encouragement.

As you can see we have some great bakers in our group!

We played a game called "Two Truths and a Lie," where we told two things that were true, and one that wasn't. Then the others guessed which one was the lie. It was fun just to find out a little more about each other!
We learned, in Psalm 91, that when we dwell and abide in Him, and call to Him, He will deliver, answer, and  rescue us! Following our devotion time we prayed for each other.
Then our guest speaker, Lorraine, the mother of three girls, who is also a teacher, spoke to us about how we can teach our children through games.

Believe it or not, all of these games belong to her! She gave some great tips on how to use card games, board games, and games like Twister, to teach shapes, colors, numbers, counting. But most importantly, we learned that when you play as a family, you're building bonds together. The kids learn how to take turns,  how to win, and how to lose.

We'll be in the Parlor next month, November 20. Hope you can come as well, and learn about "Taking Care of the Mommy in Me."

Senior Adult Day Trip to Skyview Ranch

Senior Adults are having fun! Sorry for the younger generation who have to work or go to school while we were out having fun at Skyview Ranch in Millersburg, Ohio on October 22. We enjoyed the gorgeous colors of fall, eating delicious Amish bakery, a wagon ride and shopping at a local flea market. God is good!

Explorers ABF Fall Social

The Explorers ABF celebrated the Fall season at Red Wagon Farm in Columbia Station on October 18.  The children enjoyed the corn and hay mazes while the adults enjoyed the food. All enjoyed the hay ride and a few tried to see how many pumpkins they could hold at one time. We had a great time together on a sunny, cool day!

Autumn Fellowship Buffet-Show the Fall Colors

Autumn...a time of beautiful colors! On October 20th, about 120 senior adults enjoyed themselves and took in the colors of fall at our Autumn Fellowship Buffet luncheon. The colors of autumn were on display, from the welcome banner, to the table settings and to the whimsical barn. Delicious homemade beef stew was uniquely served from pumpkins to go along with the theme. Those who attended were encouraged by the sound of gospel music sung by Doug Schweitzer and enlightened by the message on the life of Job, given by Doug's wife, Sylvia Schweitzer.

Pioneer Girl Retreat At Stony Glen

God did amazing things at our Pioneer Girl Retreat! Fifteen minutes before it was time to canoe, God provided a lifeguard, so every girl had the opportunity to canoe—many, for the first time. It’s always a highlight, along with the nature crafts, the hayride, and of course a chance to cookout a meal over an open fire. Sunday morning, the youth led in worship and we rejoiced when nine girls made the most important decision of their life, when they asked Jesus to forgive their sin and come into their life. There’s nothing like a weekend in God’s beautiful out-of-doors, where we not only enjoy all the woodsy activities, but have a time to really reflect on our loving Creator.

New School Year at Parma Heights Christian Academy

The 2009-2010 school year began with heads bowed and eyes gazed upon our Lord. The Bible says to "Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift up your hands towards Him for the lives of your children." - Lamentations 2:19

On the First day of school, parents gathered into a Circle of Prayer.

Our Moms In Touch group continues to meet every Friday for an hour of prayer.

On September 23rd students around the U.S. met at the flag pole ("See You At The Pole") to pray for our schools, our leaders and our nation.

During math practice, three students' conversation turned to concern over a family member. They decided to take it right to God.
The Education Wing of PHBC's campus is bustling once again as the new school year progresses. Our 2009-2010 school verse: "Finally, brothers, whatever is TRUE, whatever is NOBLE, whatever is RIGHT, whatever is PURE, whatever is LOVELY, whatever is ADMIRABLE - if anything is EXCELLENT or PRAISEWORTHY - think about such things." ~ Philippians 4:8
Miss Pam Scott began the week with some items she found in the trash that no longer fit into the description in Philippians 4:8.
The pursuit of what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable is a lofty goal for anyone on their own. But praise God we can seek His help for wisdom and discernment
So, finally brothers, whatever is
TRUE
NOBLE
PURE

RIGHT

LOVELY

ADMIRABLE

if anything is EXCELLENT or PRAISEWORTHY
- think about such things. Philippians 4:8
